Unit 7 Lessons 6 - 10

Lesson 6

Reading: KWL Chart before and after reading. I asked the questions from the TG, we listened on the hub, then they reread to find the answer and recorded it on page 6.1.  Afterward, they completed 6.2 independently.

Writing: We did the choice board, but I created pages for them to use and I made it into a packet. 

Language: We did 6.4, then we highlighted the spellings for /n/ and segmented the words. 

Extra Time: We played "Hot Seat" with vocabulary - I think this is a game from Unit 3, but my class BEGS to play it all the time!



Lesson 7

Listening: I showed them how to annotate, did some examples with them, then we listened to KN video and they annotated. We stopped after every page, and I annotated on the board with their examples. 

Reading: We had a snow day, 3 days off for conferences, and a weekend before this lesson, so we reviewed by rereading Chapter 6 and writing down a fact from each page, then they compared/contrasted to "Galaxies."

Language: We did take home page 4.4 to review the suffixes, then a page from my sub packet to practice spelling words.



Lesson 8

Reading: We listened on the hub, then reread to do workbook page 8.1.   We worked on the "process of elimination" skill since it was multiple choice. 

Listening: They took notes in their notebooks as they listened. 

Language: We did 8.3 together and shared examples as we went along. We played a Blooket to practice spelling (choose the correctly spelled word).


Lesson 9

Listening: We did workbook page 9.1.  After listening, before checking their answers, we did "Hand Up Pair Up" to share the what they heard for each T/F question.

Writing: We did 9.2 organizer about the future of space travel. After they wrote their ideas (most of mine are now proficient at including a topic and concluding sentence so they did not need much guidance), they created a project on Canva showing their thoughts about space travel.


Lesson 10


Reading: We did do 10.1 and worked on the process of elimination again. They did a pretty good job on the Triangle Connections! We used the glossary, and many asked to use their Interactive Notebooks!

Writing: We used the choice board packet from Lesson 6 for this. 

Extra Time: They created a solar system craft.
