Lesson 11

Now that I have my DIBELS scores back, I partnered the kids up (well below with at, below with above) and these are the partners they will read with during the Reading portion of the lesson when I choose to utilize partners. I keep this slide in my deck every day.

The kids played wordwall.net games to practice hard and soft 'g' and 'c'. These can be found in my Unit 1 slides.

Lesson 12

Foundational Skills: We watched a phonics video and the kids kept track of words they heard while watching. These are in my Unit 1 slides, but this could also be done on white boards.

Lesson 13

We got behind on writing, so today we wrote the draft. We did it as a class, and I used "Marvelous Mole" as an example. Together, we looked at the topic sentence then changed it to match our opinion about Toad being irresponsible. The kids then copied it on their draft paper. I logged myself into Pear Deck and edited it as a student. You could also project onto the white board and edit with a dry erase marker.

We also wrote the reasons and examples together, then did the same with the conclusion by editing the "Marvelous Mole" passage.

Lesson 14

I added this activity in during our skills review of /or/, /er/, and /ar/. It is a drawing slide on Pear Deck from my Unit 1 slides, and they are able to highlight the sounds we are reviewing. You could print something similar and have them use actual highlighters.

Lesson 15

After finishing the Reader, we talked about how classic tales are often retold by authors and they were able to listen to or read other versions from Epic. Click the picture for this slide (assign to them as view only in Google Classroom), or they can use the search feature on Epic.
