Due to time constraints, I will no longer be posting photos on the blog. I will share links to Facebook posts containing pictures for each lesson!
Lesson 1
Spelling: I wrote the plurals on the board (this is from my slide deck), and they sorted them under their plurals flaps. (Don’t worry, this little one fixed “mise”.)
Listening: did not take the full time…we didn’t do the KWL. I’m going to do that with each system in their notebooks, so we’ll start that tomorrow. We did the riddles on a Pear Deck text response slide, and they LOVED this!
Writing: Using a Pear Deck drawing slide, they underlined or highlighted the topic sentence and concluding sentence for each paragraph. I screenshotted them from the workbook, so we did them all on slides. I had them respond to the systems prompt in their journal, then highlight/underline their own topic/concluding sentences.
Lesson 2
Listening: We did the KWL chart for the skeletal system. As they listened to me read, they filled in key information about the skeletal system in their notebooks.
Writing: My class is doing great at identifying topic/concluding sentences so we skipped the workbook and worked on coming up with different topic/concluding sentences. They wrote about a topic of choice, underlining topic with green and concluding with red.
Language: we filled in the plural nouns on our slides, then played spelling city.
Lesson 3
Listening: We used text response slides to answer questions during reading. As always, if our discussion is rich during the reading we do not do questions at the end.
Reading: I have the questions on the slides, so they did partner work reading the text and looking in the text to answer the questions. They were observed by 4 of our district learning coaches while doing this and they did such a great job!!
Language: They did blank busters with a partner, then we checked answers. Only 3 pairs of kids got completely done.
Instead of close reading Chapter 2 (again), we made these skeletons (from www.gonoodle.com). They used their text to write key details around him!
